I was fortunate to be able to attend the Women’s Sailing Convention at the Newport Beach Bahia Yacht Club this winter. The practically hurricane force winds didn’t stop 250 women from coming together and learning sailing techniques and meeting new friends. I took classes in sail trim, dinghy handling, boat electrical systems, and boat safety equipment and techniques. It’s too bad the weather stopped us from getting out on the water, but I intend to be back next year when this 25 year old program turns 26!
