We took a weekend trip to the Annapolis Sailboat show in October 2017. We had been looking at Cats for several years and had narrowed down our wish list to a couple of brands. Lagoon was Number One. After going back to the Lagoon 42 we knew we were on the right track. We had a plan. We’d buy our USED Cat in about five years, and it would more than likely be a 42’ Lagoon, the best used one we could find. Then we met Phillip Winter, our Naos Yacht Sales broker. Phillip introduced us to the Sailtime program, and suddenly the idea of owning a new Catamaran looked do-able. We could put the Cat in Sailtime, a fractional boat membership program where we sell “time shares”, enjoy the process of building a successful business, and get the experience we need to follow our plan of eventually sailing offshore and into the setting sun.
So, meet Fandango:
She’s a Lagoon 42 with a stepped back mast, self tacking jib, owner’s version with three berths and three heads. She’s not small, but more importantly she’s not too big for two people to handle. The Yacht is comfortable for six to share on a long weekend. The owner’s berth is spacious, with a walk in shower and a queen sized bed. Sailing in a Catamaran is very comfortable compared to a monohull. The boat doesn’t heel (lean over) like a mono, so in good sailing conditions you don’t have to batten down everything in sight before leaving the dock. If you put a glass on the counter, it stays there! We know this is a hotly debated topic, but we love the convenience of two hulls.
Here are some stock pics of the interior:
And just a sampling of the gory details:
We’ve already started what will probably be an endless procession of modifications and additions to make Fandango perfect for our customers, and you’ll be able to follow what we add on our gear page. And we’ll talk about more details and have more pictures to share in blog posts.
